Fitting Conclusion

I've enjoyed all the books in Krista's Meratis trilogy. And I've really been looking forward to reading the final installment, seeing what else was in store for these characters.

I wasn't disappointed. From the moment they returned to Andvell, I was hooked. I loved the back and forth between Jeff and Venn. Seeing the way the other relationships were developing. The heightening tension between Jayden and Ariana.

There were a few moments that had me worried. But, I didn't have need to. I loved the way it all ended. A little sad that it's over, but I definitely enjoyed the ride.

Can't wait to read more adventures from the author.

A new author to follow

There is always a time when reading a trilogy or a series when one can say this one or that one is my favorite. I do not think I could say that when it comes to this trilogy. Each kept me up reading into the night sitting in the most uncomfortable hard chair but did not even notice because I was too involved into the book. Now of course my body did kinda scream at some point and I did pay for it. But I can't say I regret it. I was engrossed too much into the story. I believe that says a lot about the writer.

He made the characters so very real and the story arch plausible that it was natural. I do not believe in the entire time I said to my self "oh, yeah, right, like that could happen" and be jarred out of a story. Believe me I have been and it was not a comfortable feeling. Krista created a seamless flow from both worlds. Even the consequences from choices that were made didn't just disappear.

Thank you Krista for sharing your gift of writing and I look forward to reading more of you books. I have added you as an author to follow. And I must say thank you to another place for letting me learn of the author to begin with.

An excellent end to a fine series

Krista Walsh's Meratis trilogy, like the adventures of its main character Jeff Powell, has seemed to unfold in so little time while containing so many memorable moments. With this third and final installment--aside from an equally-enjoyable short story "A Step Too Far"--the saga brings its battle with Raul and his spiritual heirs to an end. Jeff's close relationship with Cassie is tested once again with its most agonizing teases yet; unions between certain characters are enriched with further hints of marriage and children; and old characters return in hideous echoes, as betrayals and psychic connections run amok. By the time the story climaxes with a wonderful sequence of solitude (and an emotional reunion with a very special travelling companion), the story's quality has reached yet another peak. There is definitely a bittersweetness to the wrap-up of these tales: you feel relief that the evil is conquered for now, yet you are always left wanting more, which is the mark of a truly-good work.
