Review
"Lisa Brunette’s Framed and Burning is a brilliant, suspenseful whodunit in its own merit, full of twists and turns, pursued by a unique pair of private investigators—Cat and her grandmother Grace, in a character-as-well-as-plot-driven ride pulsating with the crisis not only in the murder investigation, but also in their own lives.’ - Qiu Xiaolong, Author of Shanghai Redemption, named one of the Wall Street Journal's Best Books of 2015

Vibrant characters and a stunning story that will keep you reading!
By Charity Rowell-Stansbury
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What begins as a much-needed break in Florida for Cat and Granny Grace ends up becoming a mystery that the two private investigators find themselves embroiled in as Granny Grace's brother Mick, becomes the prime suspect in a case of arson and murder.
After the events that took place in Cat in the Flock, Granny Grace decided that what she and Cat needed was a break from the dreary Seattle weather. Grace is hopeful that a trip to Florida to visit Mick and attend his art show will help to improve Cat's state of mind; however, Cat is unimpressed by the art show's attendees and becomes more withdrawn as the night progresses.
Grace's ruminations about Cat are interrupted when the police show up at the art show and ask for Mick. Mick's studio was burned down and Mick's protege, Donnie, was killed in the blaze that consumed all of the artwork that was stored in the studio. The Miami police believe that the fire was purposely set, and they have one suspect in mind; Mick.
Grace is quick to defend her brother, and insists on launching an investigation to uncover who the perpetrator might be. Unfortunately the list of suspects is long and filled with Mick's ex-lovers, former professors, and jealous peers. In order to narrow down the list, Cat and Grace will need to rely on a combination of legwork, deductive thinking, and dreamslipping to discover the motive behind the arson and Donnie's murder in order to find the perpetrator.
In the first book of Lisa Brunette's Dreamslipper Series, Cat in the Flock, we learned a lot about Cat, and I was thrilled to discover that this second book, Framed and Burning, delves a little deeper into Grace's history. As with Cat in the Flock, I found that I was able to suspend disbelief as I read about Grace and Cat's dreamslipping abilities and quickly became reacquainted with the genuine, flawed, vulnerable, and powerful private investigating duo.
Lisa Brunette continues to develop vibrant characters in a stunning story that will keep you reading well past your bedtime! If you are looking for realistic female protagonists with a hint of paranormal ability and enjoy contemporary mysteries, you will not be disappointed.

A Mystery in the Arts with lots of Twists
By GenuineJenn
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am always a little leery with reading books in a series out of order. I will do it once in awhile with books I have been told are true stand alone. This is one of those books and it truly was a stand alone. I do think that reading book 1 would help with getting to know the two main characters, Grace and Cat better. Along with learning more about Lee who Cat was involved with in book 1. Still this book didn't have me lost at all.
I am not huge into artwork, like painting and this is the main theme of the book but I did enjoy the mystery behind it. Mick is Grace's brother and great uncle to Cat (who doesn't know him that well, only meeting a few times). Mick has a fire in his art studio losing all his work and his best friend/assistant Donnie. The story starts to unfold as Grace and Cat look for who did it. Mick has a lot of people that have held grudges or didn't like him for his success in the art world.
Lise Brunette takes us on a wild goose chase to interview people from Mick's past to see who is a suspect. The characters are all well developed along the way, there are a lot of characters in this book. I had a strong feeling with Enrie and wasn't sure I liked him from the beginning but the author has us all over the place wondering could it be him or her, or even someone else. Is it revenge from a past lover or someone that is jealous of how well Mick has done in the art world.
I was totally taken off guard with the end and who actually set the first fire which killed Donnie. I really enjoyed learning about the dreamslipping that Grace, Cat and Mick all can do. It actually can cause a lot of problems if they are not careful with it.
I believe this is going to be a great series and I can't wait to go back to book 1 and learn more about Cat and Grace's dreamslipping.
I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Enthralling and yet Disturbing...a must read.
By Rajalakshmi Prithviraj
I read this book before I read the first one in the series. And I loved every bit of it. It took me three sittings to complete my reading. No, it was definitely not because of the content, but due to my personal commitments. However, I sure will read it once again (even more) as and when I get the opportunity.
The plot is enthralling and disturbing at the same time. The concept of dreamslippers is something I have never heard of, and after reading this book, I definitely want to read up more on them. Also, the fact that Lisa addresses a vital issue to send across a strong message is commendable.
Lisa's writing style not only succeeds in vividly describing each scene, the tone at which narration is executed is strong enough to keep a reader glued to the book. She has integrated the evils of child pornography in her narration. And this is one issue which needs constant focus.
Children are innocent but, thanks to a few perverts, this innocence is exploited. Using their pictures, paedophiles not only shatter a child's dreams, they leave a scar for lifetime. Lisa's story rakes up so many emotions. For me, her story made me feel even more protective towards my kids. I wish I could say more about this, but then, it would be a big time spoiler.
All the characters have a significant role. In fact, the storyline and theme are the protagonists. Hence, each character has a specific role to play in order to bring out the essence of the story.
To sum up, I loved getting framed and burning. The story gets under your skin and will make you ponder long after you are done with reading. Its a must read.
P.S - Thank you Legit Lit Book Tours for giving me this wonderful book to read.
